Thanks Tegwen for the hint.

I checked in a book I ordered on the Battle of Falkland and found out that H.M.S. Glasgow was armed with 2 x 6" and 10 x 4" guns. Therefor she could have opened fire with her 4" guns. I think I'll go for it.

I hope that some one from H.M.S. Cornwall remembers having transcribed that day.

I checked and did not find any post or her page in the forum.

The book's complete title is :

The battle of the falkland Islands 1914 by H.Spencer-Cooper.

Doh, It would have helped if I had looked up the armament for the right ship. Glad the hint was of use though!!!

I'm not into transcribing battles, but Cornwall is in the completed fleet we can all read.  The pages from 7th, 8th and 9th December 1914 are:

Thanks Janet for posting it. It makes our collection for that victorious day complete, I guess.

It needs more notice than that, Kathy.  I found and merged 3 threads on this subject, and changed the index name to fit.

These are the ships we transcribed who were present at the Battle of the Falkland Islands, 8th December 1914.  Because not all historians know how to walk themselves up and down the logs to see more, I'm listing the pages for 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th of December 1914 for each of the 9 ships.

Thank Janet - when I have a 'spare few minutes' (ha ha) I will have a read at what the other ships thought of the battle (I did Inflexible).

That's great - and gives us a very easy way of alerting future editors to information which will help them in their editing.

I just checked some sources, and it not that we have 9 of the ships involved in this battle, we transcribed all the British ships involved in this battle  8)

AND, no one else seems to know that HMS Macedonia was involved -  :o

OK - I found one mention of Macedonia -  ::)
