The weather of Trafalgar
« on: September 23, 2012, 06:33:59 pm »
It's not exactly what we've been doing, but Dennis Wheeler (from Sunderland University, and a long-time collaborator of mine) is giving a talk to the SouthWest Branch of the Royal Met. Society in Reading (UK) a week on Wednesday (October 3rd). It's titled "The weather of the battle of Trafalgar: how the Nelsonian tradition helps us understand climate change".

Dennis has been working on Nelson's weather records for a long time. On the bicentennial of the battle he came to the Met Office and gave us a weather forcast for the event based on observations from the ships and nearby land stations. He's a good speaker, so if anyone is nearby that evening, why not go along. It's in Victorian Gallery, Reading Town Hall, Reading, RG1 1QH.
