Messiest log page competition
« on: July 21, 2011, 08:46:04 pm »
Has anyone seen a messier log page than this?  I think it's about the worst I've seen - very grimy, scrawled over in various handwritings, nearly all terrible, and with someone's arithmetic where some of the weather should be.  I hereby nominate it as 'messiest log page' on OW - unless you know better?

Well, I don't know. I always liked this one from the Knight Templar. It's spectacularly grimy.

I think that's in top place in the 'grimy' subsection - but I still back mine as the messiest!   :D

Mmm, I think that may have to be yet another subsection - worst page so bad it had to be removed altogether!  I love the formal language - 'accidently coming into contact with oil' rather than 'some idiot spilt a can of oil all over it'.

It's not without charm...note the various doodles of anchors, as though he was practicing drawing them.

Yes, the anchors are a redeeming feature ...

I've been tempted to enter one or two of the Changuinola's log pages, but I think this page surpasses everything I've seen before - it's just missing someone having spilt their tea on it.

So many different styles of handwriting.  Looks as if everyone on the ship could write in the logs.

It looks to have been written in pencil, which is pretty much eternally smudge-able.
Judging by the barometer entries, the writer changed with each watch suggesting that they didn't bother with a "draft book" but entered the details straight into this log.

Judging by the fingerprints along the bottom, both the stokers and the ERAs have had their 2 penn'orth in there.

I didn't get the beginning of this log book, but I think it is an original log, rather than the usual copies we get, so whoever was on duty wrote up the log.  It's probably cheating for me to put an original page into this competition!
