RN SHIPS Signature
« on: November 04, 2011, 01:31:56 pm »
I was just wondering how you add a signature to your posts. I see that Caro has one, and I see an option not to display signatures, but I don't see where they are created.
Is it no longer supported?
Anyway, no big deal ;)

I'm told that's it's a hangover from an option formerly available on (some) Zooniverse sites that was discontinued because of inappropriate use.
I understand that some people blessed with a signature regard it in a similar fashion as others view their tattoo of the name of a former love interest.

Serves them right! Show-offs.  ;)

Thanks for the explanation Bunts.
I'm glad I wasn't missing something obvious (as is too often the case  ;)).
(No tattoo and no signature are fine with me! ;D)

I'd forgotten they did that.  I've never been a tagline guy.  But I remember when almost everyone in the Zooniverse had them.

Tattoos.  Bad idea.  You can only alter them so many times until you have to change "Suzie" to "Suzie can't hold a candle to whomever I'm with now".

You could change it to something like "HMS Suzierain" and put a picture of a ship under it  ;)

I think they got blocked, because they were used to smuggle in links to no-no sites.

Els is right, as far as I know. Spammers were using them.
You can't acquire one now and you cannot get rid of it if you have one from the old days.

CPDN has them (lots of people there use them to show their project credits), and it says that they are being (ab)used by paid spammers who insert commercial links.
I don't care about having a signature or not, but it is depressing to find yet another case of a greedy or malicious few ruining things for the rest of us --- and worse yet on volunteer projects.

I like it!  A logical, if very expensive, solution.  Want to get rich?  Go into the tattoo removal business in about twenty years.

That reminds me. This past summer I saw a bride and groom come out of the city hall. White wedding dress and tattoo. It looked idiotic.

Yeah, I keep hoping everyone will wise up.  My oldest daughter was determined to get a lot of tattoos.  That argument started when she was 12.  Now she's 24 and she has a not so well done rose that covers her  entire shoulder and extends part way down the bicep.  She doesn't know I know this, but she has regretted it ever since.

Having threatened dire consequences if my daughter ever got a tattoo, she went out shortly after her 18th and got a very small Hermes wings symbol that she had designed herself on the outside of each heel. She doesnt know this but I actually think they look quite cool.

The tongue piercing is another matter entirely!!!
