Really funny listening to Tom Lehrer again and to Flanders and Swan for the first time, Bunts, even without polar bears in the streets. ;D

There was also Lehrer's song about the bomb that was very good - "... Gotta get the bomb!" I first enjoyed these back in the 60s.

Hi Steeleye (and others).
What did I start with the Pommy comment?  ::)
You may be interested to hear I also got Labotomised and became an Ozi.
Now I can wear my thongs, throw another sang on the barby, sit back with a tinny, watch Austar and barrack for either the poms or ozzies depending on whom is winning at a the time.
(Lets see where those comments sail to)  ;D

It all makes perfect sense to me.

Disambiguation (to lower blood pressure to normal level):
In Australia and New Zealand, "thongs" are lightweight footwear, sandals that have a strap passing between the great toe and the seconds toe; in the UK (and perhaps elsewhere) thongs are extremely skimpy underwear - as in the lower part of bikinis - which look (to me) to be particularly uncomfortable and impractical, but then I speak merely from observation not experience.  :-\

Opps.
Thanks Bunting.
Missed the other meaning for thongs. (thongs are also known as 'Japanese riding boots though good knows why, or flip flops for the sound they make when you are walking.)
I think that concludes Thongs and Poms for a while.
Stuart.

If someone wants a newbie to interview I'd be happy to help, though  I don't extend the territory already covered as I'm in Oxfordshire too. Co-incidentally, I happen to be the admin asst. for the lead academic with the Climatepredictdotnet project at Oxford Univ. I didn't realise this until a few days into getting completely hooked and went back to read up properly about Oldweather. It's a small world.
