Welcome
« on: April 11, 2012, 11:48:56 pm »

Hi, everyone.

This new board will be the place to look for posts about our results.  Articles, blog-style posts, transcriptions, etc.  This is not a replacement for the Old Weather blog, though it will certainly feed it.  There is a topic called Archive that will be locked, meaning no conversation there, but copies of all the articles will be stored there so they can be perused easily in the future (and so they'll all be together, with a linked table of contents), but first they'll each have their own open topics here (meaning you can post and discuss the subject).  If you would like to write something for this section, please let one of the moderators know.

I have no doubt that the W.T. doors were tested and found correct.

Yes, I can proudly say that our watertight doors are every bit the equal of those of the Titanic.

Not sure if this is the right place but I have been trying to volunteer to edit HMS Hampshire. I thought I had sorted out my problems with Windows Live - it keeps making me reset my password. However I haven't managed to get an editable form of HMS Hampshire's file from Naval History.  I'm not sure whether it is Windows Live or whether I am missing a link somewhere.  I hope someone can help otherwise I'm just giving up. I'm wasting far too much time and energy on it and my notebook is going to get thrown through the nearest window (sorry about the pun) any time now.

Windows Live still refuses to cooperate.  I have used the straight e-mail link via my own e-mail and if that doesn't work then I have wasted enough time fighting with Microsoft software. Windows Live now tells me that an error occurred and to see the pane below for details - it is blank!!  I've reset passwords, messed around with settings and I do wish people wouldn't use the darn program.  OK, rant over, I'll go back to my transcribing until I run out of logs.

Well, I have sent two emails but have not yet heard anything (admittedly the second one was only at the beginning of this week).  I really, really want to move onto this part of the project  - obviously I would like to edit the Mantua though I do not think her logs are ready yet, so have now said I will edit any ship in the meantime.  Unfortunately I did not get in before the item in Scientific American, so maybe Gordon has been inundated with offers to edit the logs.  Does anyone have any idea how long it is likely to take before I hear anything, so that I can stop pathetically rushing to my Inbox every time I hear the ping of an incoming email, because I feel like such a desperately sad person!!!!!

Hold on Su. I will get in touch with Gordon and sort this out, I hope.
There seems to be some problem with the email address.
