Lack of pushpins
« on: October 25, 2012, 02:52:44 am »
I've been away from shipping for quite a bit, was "on" the Moorhen in China waters and now find myself in the Arctic on the Vicksburg with my first page listing men detached and transferred. Problem?  huge rectangles which won't fit nicely.  I used to pride myself on the neatness of my pushpins.  Tips please on how to manoeuvre the rectangles so as not to smother each other and hence calm me down.

Welcome back, sbpj.  We will be doing ships with different logbook from 1850 to 1950 this time around, so the magnifier must be different.  Caro wrote up wonderful instructions for drawing boxes, in Guides for US logs

Have a look at USS Vicksburg -- Reference: Transcription Example and Log Description ;D

I was a neat nut on the pushpins too!
It does take a bit of practice, but you can be just as neat with the boxes!
See Caro's Guide (http://forum.oldweather.org/index.php?topic=3078.msg49657#msg49657)

randi-2 and Janet - thank you both very much.  I've got both your pages up as extra tabs and am labouring away............

:)

Have fun.
We have a strong desire for any and all sea ice information, so there is a whole new discipline for us to learn - I love not being bored. ;D
