Having coming across this tweet yesterday, showing the circumstances firemen had to work in, I can understand why they sought the bottle and wanted to stay ashore at every opportunity. ;)

J. Sullivan (F1C) was brought off by shore police at 4:00 - 56 1/2 hours overtime - a reward of $10 00/100 (Mex) was paid for his apprehension and delivery on board.

18-05-1903 - 4 to 8 P.M.:
While the prisoners were being policed at 7:30 two of them, C.G.G. Hayunder, (A1C) and H.L. Ross, (F2C), escaped through air port in head, leaving their irons in the head.
A reward of ten dollars $10.00 (gold) a piece was immediately offered for their arrest.

4 to 8 A.M.:
D.J. Grant, (C.P.) was delivered on board at 7.45 am, by a police officer of Vallejo, Cal. and a reward of ten dollars (10.00) was paid for his delivery on board, when Grant was delivered on board he had been absent 72 hours overleave.
