Hi Randi,

This is quite a curious one...

According to the logs, the ship was anchored for the night in the area comprised between the islands of Ukolnoi and Wosnesenski and the main land (Coal Bay, between Seal Cape and Cape Tolstoi), more or less in the middle of that little open sea area (anchorage coordinates more or less 55.280;-161.431 )... They had Cape Tolstoi bearing 334o (to the North-Northwest).
Ship was actually a little outside of the big Pavlof Bay, unless we consider the bay to comprise all the water between Dolgoi Island and Seal Cape on the mainland.

I've not been able to find it mentioned as Pankof Bay anywhere so far... will deepen searches. A typo is always possible (after all "bay" is not appropriate for an open area such as that one). No Pankof Bay at all and Cape Pankof (and corresponding Pankof Breaker) is quite far to the west...

Edit: Added an alias "Pankof Bay" to Pavlof Bay... found no explanation other than a logkeeper mismatch...

They list Tolstoi Pt, Pavlof Bay as the noon location. However, I am fairly certain that they are referring to Cape Tolstoi.
