ISON
« on: October 01, 2013, 03:02:46 pm »
This comet may be visible even during the day.
Already in November. It flies around the planet Mars.

I hope it's not "The Day of the Triffids"
A and cash is over because www.nasa.gov page does not work.

I read The Day of the Triffids. It was pretty scary. I used to enjoy Wyndham's novels.

These days you don't need Wyndham for apocalyptic scenarios - you just have to read the IPCC reports.  ;D

Oh dear - it did make interesting news for the rest of us... and a lot of our council staff and teachers were out on strike today - more strikes with us next week I think. :-\

Talking about the facts are perfectly OK with this mod.  Talking about your opinions in family-friendly language is perfectly OK with this mod.   :)

This mod's personal opinions are very difficult to keep family-friendly.   >:(

I admit I expected it all to be resolved at the last minute - but I've probably watched too much "West Wing" over the years.

I had hoped for that.  What we have is stubborn elected officials staging a temper tantrum because the health care law they hate...
  • ...passed both houses of congress when they tried to defeat it
  • ...was OKed by the Supreme Court when they tried to get it declared unconstitutional
  • ...is currently lowering almost all insurance premiums offered when they said those would all rise and get worse

So they'd rather shut down the whole gov't rather than fund this process to continue.  Go figure.

Really really stupid.

I hope Kevin isn't affected by the government shutdown.

As for ISON, there's always ESA. :)

Sad  :( That gives us some idea of what they consider "non-essential services" to be.

Kevin is a little better off than many in that he is also connected to a University who still want him.  But his field trip into the arctic is completely destroyed by congress.

It's going to be 'interesting.' My neighbor is a Maintenance Supervisor for Customs & Border Patrol. CPB Agents are working but she and the whole Maintenance crew are not.

Wonder how long agents will be able to work when equipment starts to break down?? :P

I'm lucky - as a contractor I get to take leave and thus get paid - the Feds don't even get to take their leave.

AND...
I loved Day of the Triffids too!  ;D
