Annotated and transcribe just the one page, so these are only the first impressions.

The toolbox is positioned over the page to annotate, whilst there is a lot of empty space left of the page.
It also often positioned over the entry box when transcribing.

The entry box is partly disappearing underneath the Zooniverse footer if the annotation indication is tall.

The greying out of the annotation box when transcribing is irritating, it's obscuring what to transcribe.

Since there is no context to be seen, it's sometimes impossible to tell if your transcribing numbers or a weather symbol.

Until we get a tutorial ... this is what I do.
Drag the log page to the left, away from the tool box.
For context, use the 'Fit page' button (the one with arrows) to see the bigger picture. Drag the image if necessary.
The next entry will revert to the smaller size.

For context, I get the URL and open the page in another tab ::)

Philip has asked us to start including the State of the Sea column(s).

After my previous comment re templates I just tried Northland 1929.
After annotating I was asked if I wanted to save the template I said yes. No option to name template.
Went to transcribe the page and it came up with a box over Direction and after entering Direction it told me there was no data.

Is it me or is there no data?
If no data can it be indicated on the Ships page (No data yet), I found it frustrating not being able to check if I had done it right.
Maybe adding a few pages of data and a note saying 'Limited data for testing purposes' or similar on the ship page.

It's that you are maybe being given boxes on a different page.  I today annotated a comment page - short and sweet, describing a boring day in port.  Then I hit the transcribe button and got given the box showing "hour" on an unknown weather page.  I think there is no software link there at all to make this "transcribe THIS page" and they truthfully do not say that either.

I have only gotten pages that I have annotated, but I get the oldest page I annotated but didn't transcribe instead of the page I just annotated.
If I keep transcribing, I do get to the page I just annotated.
That does make sense...

This is a different ship with different logs, but it will still give you some idea what your grid should look like.

If you could post links to screen captures that might help...

Maybe on the next iteration of the interface it will accept spreadsheet data and save us lots of work and time.  ::)

Much better than last time I tried it. :) And with Caro's tutorial, it's rather easy to get the hang of it. Could do with slightly better contrast on the transcribing page, but I can work with the current situation. And it seem you can't finish drawing an annotation box behind the tool box, but again this is manageable. I found zooming out a bit on when transcribing can help see what is written - sometimes the text has been stretched a bit too much to read when it's first shown. But yes, I'd be quite happy working with this interface :)

Quick question - will there be any need to transcribe mentions of ships/people? and if yes, would these come under events? (I didn't see a 'mentions' or similar option)

As always mentions of ships and people are optional.
Mentions is the last item on the list - after animals :-X

Ah yes, just seen it. It sits off the white area on my browser (Chrome-Version 49.0.2623.110 ) so I didn't see it at first.
