help for a whaling ship please...
« on: December 22, 2015, 05:55:01 pm »
...mostly for my own curiosity.

This is SS Congress 1864, http://whaling-data.oldweather.org/subjects/logbookofcongres00unse_0009.jpg

On June 9th they are at Lat 40 34 N, Long 56 42 W
On June 10th they are at Lat 40 52 N, Long unknown
On June 11th they are at "San Obscure"

On June 14th they are at Lat 41 49, Long unknown

Does anyone have an idea where San Obscure is?

I'd vote for 'Sun Obscure'   ;)

Now that makes sense!!  Thanks.

We'll have to add that to Maritime terminology so landlubbers like me don't keep boxing it as the only location for that date.   ::)
