Hello all! I'm a reporter writing an article about Old Weather and the people helping parse through the whaling ship logs. I write for ClimateWire, which covers the business and politics of climate change in Washington, D.C. I'd love to know why you all, volunteers, joined the project and what you find most interesting. Shoot me an email at cvonkaenel@eenews.net or reply below if you are open to sharing your experience with me!

Thanks, Camille von Kaenel

Just got an email back from Camille:  :D You can see the whole article if you take out a trial readership. I'll post a little bit more tomorrow.

This ClimateWire story was sent to you by: cvonkaenel@eenews.net

Personal message: Hello Joan,

Here is the story, finally, in ClimateWire! Thanks for all your help and enjoy those new whaling logbooks. Feel free to post a link to the article (unfortunately it is behind a paywall so can't be copied over completely).

All the best,

Camille

Good news, Camille has been able to provide a full link to the article in ClimateWire. However she asks that we respect the paywall usually placed on it and to enjoy it here, but not to pass it onwards.

"Don?t copy the story in full but everyone should be able to access it now here: http://www.eenews.net/stories/1060030595/  "

Thanks again to everyone who helped with her article.  :D

"There's no shortage of crazy stories," Wood said. "We just want [volunteers] to write down the numbers," he added with a laugh.

I'm still going to mark the crazy stories...  ;)

;D ;D ;D  totally with you on that one Bob.
I often say that the computers (who lost the competitive tender for the job - hahaha  ;D ) work when you put enough money in the electric meter. If you put fun and frolics from King Neptune in my meter I transcribe data. Simple maths really  8) ;D

Perfect response, Bob and Joan.  A human wrote those logs, so we humans want those stories written for us.  A wonderful article.  :)
