Welcome to Northland (1929) and a new phase of Old Weather.

As before, this topic is for asking questions and sharing information.
Now it will also be used to help coordinate transcriptions as we develop the new system.

Doing the ice log. Gripping so far - we've been nipping in and out of Oakland California like we were on a bungee band  ::)

   22-06-29      64 35 171 16      11:51 AM Encountered scattered ice. From 12:00 PM to 12:25 PM encountered loose drift ice.  6:15 found St Lawrence Bay to be filled with ice.   
   21-07-29      King's Island      Mid to 4 am. Log mentions a large patch of snow in the center of King's Island   
   28-07-29      Off Wainwright      Meridian to 4:00 PM 1:50 changed course to 68 degrees working through field of ice at various speeds for remainder of the watch. 4.00 - 6.00 PM: On course 68 degrees p.g.c. standard speed working thru field ice. 5.37 increased to full speed, both engines. 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM On course 68 degrees p.g.c. at full speed both engines, working thru ice fields. 6:30, changed course to 85 degrees p.g.c. 7:00, changed course to 70 degrees p.g.c. 7:35, changed course to 60 degrees p.g.c. 7:52, changed course to 55 p.g.c. and so to end of watch.   
   29-07-29      Barrow, Alaska      Meridian to 4:00 PM 1:15 [...] various course and speeds clearing ice surrounding anchorage. 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Vessel working through field ice during latter part of watch. 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM On course 263 degrees p.g.c. running thru scattered ice fields at standard speed. 8:00 pm to mid. [...] thru scattered ice fields.   
   30-07-29      Wainwright      Merid to 4.00 PM various courses at various speeds thru scattered ice field [...] 2.00 Stopped secured to field of ice. 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM [...] through ice
