OW Classic seems to be down, can't connect to it.

Edit 08:44 UTC:
And it's back again.

Different kind of problem this time.
After logging in, I receive the message:

The page you were looking for doesn't exist.
You may have mistyped the address or the page may have moved.

It's a authentication failure message, yet Panoptes claims I am signed in.
Signing out and then in again doesn't change anything.

Edit:
Half an hour later all is working as usual again. :)

I get that sometimes too, but if I go to the page I want to transcribe, I am logged in.
I just tried it now and didn't have any errors.

If it isn't preventing transcribing, it might not be worth mentioning it to the developers :-\

The message is the only thing I saw, the rest of the page was blank.
So yes, it was hindering transcribing to the extreme, I didn't get any page to transcribe. ;)

Sorry - I am seeing something different.
When I ask for the page again right after my error message I do get the page.

Okay- this is what the last month looks like. At this point I cast myself upon the mercies of all you IT savvy people. Any ideas as to what might be going on, suggestions for passing it back to the developers?  :-[ :-\  (and can anyone fill in the missing ships please?)

Date      UTC start      UTC end      Ship      Notes
   05/12/2016      14:19      14:22      Yorktown      Craig
   06/12/2016      11:00      12:13      Yorktown      Maikel
07/12/2016      18:10      18:15      Patterson      Helenj - Had to close before UTC end
10/12/2016      22:31      22:35      Thetis      jil - getting no response when clicking on 'I've finished'. Cleared a few minutes later
10/12/2016      22:33                  Bob - no response from classic.oldweather &'CloudFront attempted to establish a connection with the origin, but either the attempt failed or the origin closed the connection.' & 'The classic.oldweather.org page isn't working classic.oldweather.org is currently unable to handle this request. HTTP ERROR 503'. Not ship log related
   11/12/2016      00:55            Patterson      mapurves
   13/12/2016      17:49      17:54      Patterson      mapurves
   15/12/2016      04:44      05:03      Patterson      mapurves
20/12/2016      05:02      05:17      Patterson      mapurves: This is odd, because opening another window, I can bring up a page for Yorktown, but my page for Patterson won't go. Anyway, I reloaded the page, and re-did the entries, and the page went.  FROM Pommy Stuart Michael, looking at the time stamps they are close.  4:44:13 AM GMT & 5:02:50 AM  GMT Maybe they are backing up that server at that time?  mapurves: 'Maybe. The last case is interesting, because I could download a page for Yorktown, but I couldn't upload a page for Patterson. When I reloaded the page, and re-entered the weather, it went up OK'
   26/12/2016      19:08      19:23   Jamestown1844   Randi, Monday. Yes, I was stuck on a finished page. About 15 minutes.
09/01/2017      08:20      08:44   Yorktown      Maikel: OW Classic seems to be down, can?t connect to it, 08:44, it's back again'
10/01/2017      11:46      12:15   Yorktown      "Maikel: After logging in, I receive the message: 'The page you were looking for doesn't exist. You may have mistyped the address or the page may have moved.'  It's an authentication failure message, yet Panoptes claims I am signed in. Signing out and then in again doesn't change anything.    11/01/2017      18:20      18:40      Albatross1900      Hurlock
18/01/2017      11:30      11:41      Yorktown      Craig: Here's what I get when I clicked on Transcribe 'ERROR The request could not be satisfied. CloudFront attempted to establish a connection with the origin, but either the attempt failed or the origin closed the connection.'
18/01/2017      11:36      11:39      Unalga (I)      propriome: Confirmed (with reference to Craig's problem at 18.01.2017 at 11:30) At the moment I get a 503 (service unavailable) response too.
18/01/2017      11:23      --:--             Stuart: Its been working fine down. Never (yet) had any of those messages. A tad slow some days... Usual times for me 19:00 to 06:00 UTC
   20/01/2017      14:23      14:43      Yorktown      Craig

Possibly a second problem:
21/01/2017      01:45      02:00       Albatross 1890     Leelaht: this is new, I suddenly can't place any entry boxes. If I click in the odd corners it'll give me the skinny default box. | Finally finished the page and the next one was normal, as is one after that (so far). And here I was honing my technique on getting the skinny boxes to pop up. So a mystery as to why that one page decided to misbehave. Leelaht: Spoke to soon.... went to another browser and seems to be OK,  for now. mapurves: Sometimes I find just switching to another program window, like Excel, Word, iTunes etc, and going back fill fix things. Not always, but it is quick to try... Leelaht: I changed from Chrome to Firefox

These are my educated guesses for the missing ships, based on my knowledge of who is/was working on what:

Jil, 10/12/2016: Thetis.
Maikel, always: Yorktown.
Randi, always: Jamestown 1844.
Mapurves, 10/01/2017: Unalga I.

The only one where I don't have a guess is Bob, 10/12/2016. I think he was working on the Albatross 1890, but I can't be sure.

As for what's causing the problem: Best guess I got is unstable, outdated software.
I think only the Zooniverse developers really know what's going on.

I wasn't actually working anything for that report, just checking the site status.

Randi, always: Jamestown 1844.

Right, thanks Hanibal!
Apologies for forgetting to include that.
