Thank you, Janet. As I said, I'll be around as a volunteer! More so once I am settled in at my new job, and I can get all my "Zooniverse Team" flair removed from my Talk posts. :-)

Just sign in under a new avatar and username.  Different roles entirely.  :)

;D ;D ;D I bet her log books go straight into a computer - no need for humble heroic transcribers  :o

I looked it up and nearly fainted - the Europa - next voyage = Dec 16 to Jan 17 - 2 berth cabin = over ?7500, and that's after you've paid to get to Ushuaia! Some trip though, stunning

I've no idea how much the fare is, but I can't imagine it to be a trifling sum; but they also have a voyage that sails from Puenta Arenas near Cape Horn to Capetown near the Cape of Good Hope by way of Antarctica. Aboard a barque, this would be an absolutely phenomenal journey.

My older nephew went down to Antarctica - in a more modern ship, no tall masts.  He absolutely loved it, and no - it is not cheap.

Blow my cotton socks off - that trip is made on the ship I pictured above. It's a 52 day epic, costs about Euros 8900 (pretty much same as the above trip) and is already Fully Booked until April 2017.
It sounds like an astounding trip. Just don't fall into the water on the way  :o  ;)  :D

Lynne Cox went into that water on purpose, and swam for over a mile.  ;)

Here's something cool: A Pulsar Hunters classification counter!

I love the 3D effect - looks like that scene from The Empire Strikes Back where Luke fell down a shaft after losing his hand.
