"Anchor" symbol
« on: December 18, 2010, 03:50:53 am »
While logging Events the last couple of days I've been running across a symbol which is very clearly meant to represent an anchor, as in "Symbol - age." I had been substituting the word anchor for this symbol, but tonight I added parantheses to it.  How should I be logging this symbol?

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff, it is literally short-hand for 'anchor'.  That plus 'age' is an anchorage.

Since none of our keyboards have any such symbol, I simply type out the whole word 'anchor' in its place.

Does it actually look like an anchor (which, I would think, would look like a J)?

It looks like the attached, in all the ships I've been on that use it.  Danae does not, unless the note is long and the space really cramped.

Hello,
I have two anchors :).
Two anchors means: one on the port side and one on the starboard side?

Yes, exactly.
I'd love to have a picture of that for my notes - could you attach or send it to me?  Thanks.

My current log-keeper not only draws little anchors, he draws delicate little anchor chains as well. Clearly he has missed his calling and should have been an artist. ;D
